Jose_M._Linares

José M. Linares is Senior Executive Vice-President of Banco Santander and Head of Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (SCIB), having been appointed on 1 June 2017. He reports directly to the Group CEO and is also a member of the Executive Committee. Prior to joining Santander, José María Linares spent more than 17 years at J.P. Morgan in a number of senior roles in New York, Hong Kong and London. His previous position, starting in 2011, was Managing Director and Head of Global Corporate Banking in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He was also Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of J.P. Morgan Bank International, a member of the EMEA banking leadership team and Vice-Chairman of the Balance Sheet Committee.

Previously, José was Head of EMEA and Asia Pacific Equity & Derivatives Research, based in London, and simultaneously a member of the Global Equities Executive Committee and Commitments Committee.

Prior to moving to the UK in 2006, José spent three years in Hong Kong as head of APAC Equity and Derivatives Research. Before taking on his role in Asia in 2003, he was Head of Latin America & Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa Equity Research. He was previously J.P. Morgan’s Senior Global Emerging Markets telecommunications analyst, based in New York.

For many years, he was rated as the top Telecom Equity analyst in Emerging Markets. He started his Wall Street career covering Latin American stocks at Morgan Stanley.

José holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Economics from Babson College, where he graduated summa cum laude, and an MBA from Columbia University. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Antony Hung

Antony Hung

Antony Hung is the Regional Head for Asia Pacific of Santander Group and is responsible for the Group’s business in Asia Pacific, with branches in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Before his current role, Antony was Asia-Pacific Head of Global Banking and Markets and, prior to joining Banco Santander, he was President for Asia excluding Japan for Capula Investment Management Asia Limited and Chairman of its Asia Investment Committee.

Previously, he worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch as Managing Director and Head of Asia Pacific Global Wealth Management as well as a member of the Global Wealth Management Executive Committee and Asia-Pacific Executive Committee.

Antony was also previously Head of Fixed-Income, Currencies and Commodities for the Pacific Rim region at Merrill Lynch, which he joined in 1993 from Salomon Brothers Asia, where he was Vice-President in Fixed-Income Sales. Before that, Antony held senior positions at CEF Capital Ltd and Exxon Chemical Asia Pacific Ltd.

Antony holds a BBA(Hons) and an MBA from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of CPA and a member the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in the UK.

Carlos Ruiz de Gamboa

Carlos is the head of Santander CIB Chile and head of Markets Chile since 2025.

Carlos is a seasoned investment banking executive with over 30 years of leadership experience across Latin America and the U.S., including several senior roles at J.P. Morgan where he spent most of his career. 

Carlos is a well-recognised professional in the region, with a proven track record in global markets, fixed income, corporate finance and risk management. Prior to joining Santander, he worked at Tyndall Group, delivering bespoke strategic financial solutions to clients across Latin America.

Catalina Laurens

With a career of more than 22 years in banking, Catalina has a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, opportunities, and market dynamics in Colombia.

She joined Santander in 2019 after working in a number of senior positions for HSBC and Citibank in Colombia.

Conor H

Conor Hennebry

Conor H

Conor leads Santander’s UK Corporate and Investment Banking business and is also Head of Santander London Branch (SLB). 

Conor has worked at Santander since January 2019. Previously he led the global DCM and Syndicated Loan businesses. Prior to that he held similar roles at Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley. He has worked on almost $500bn of bond and loan issues over a 20 year career in banking. 

In 2009/10, Conor took a sabbatical from banking to work as Chief of Staff to Greg Clark, the Shadow Energy and Climate Change Secretary and helped to write the Energy Security and Climate Change manifestos for the victorious 2010 Conservative election campaign. Conor is a member of the Irish government’s Global Irish Network, and of the Campaign Committee of the London Irish Centre. 

Conor graduated from University College Cork in 1998 with an MSc in Finance. Conor lives in London with his wife and three children.

Darren Jones is the head of Global Banking. He is a member of the CIB Global Executive Committee and the Banking & Corporate Finance Global Executive Committee.

Darren joined Santander in January 2018 as Head of UK Banking & Corporate Finance. Prior to this, Darren spent over 30 years with Barclays, where he was Head of UK & Ireland Corporate Finance within the Investment Banking Division. Darren was responsible for raising over $400bn in debt and equity for clients in many transformational transactions. He also held a number of senior management positions, including Global Head of Structured Trade and Export Finance and Head of Capital Strategy, EMEA. Darren joined Barclays Capital in the late 1990’s from Barclays Group, where he had held a number of strategy, client management and senior project roles, both within the UK and overseas.
